The City of Lebanon is looking for a leader within its Public Works Department. The Assistant Public Works Director for Administration is a key part of the department’s leadership team, which includes the Deputy City Manager for Public Services, two Assistant Public Works Directors, and Administrative Services Manager.

This Assistant Director position oversees Public Works staff in Finance, Administration, Asset Management, Engineering, Energy and Facilities. The ideal candidate is a good generalist who is focused on budgeting and contracts, process improvement, project management, asset and facility life cycles, green energy, employee development, mentorship and team leadership.

The successful candidate will be able to develop short and long-term plans and priorities, that utilize and align with our asset management efforts, will develop employees in their career goals, and ensure accountability to our mission of being a well-managed, highly professional department. You should also be a manager who is comfortable overseeing multiple projects at one time, balancing those projects by spending a lot of time walking around and getting to know your employees, to ensure they are being safe, working to their full potential, and advancing the goals of being well-prepared and accountable. This person is also a key member in the decision-making of how the department makes short and long-term decisions, in the development of the annual budget and capital spending plans and plays a leading role in public communications.

The successful candidate will have excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills, is able to prepare and manage a major department budget, capital improvement and equipment replacement plans, and is an engaged employee manager. A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and dedication to being a leader in the department are key personality traits. Engineering degree is not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $93,554.24 - $126,288.24 per year
