BUILDING CLEANING WORKER I

Location: Plymouth Circuit Court, 26 Green Street, Plymouth, NH

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 5:00pm-9:00pm

Pay: The starting hourly pay for this position is $14.40- $18.46

The State of New Hampshire, Department of Administrative Services, Division of Plant and Property, Bureau of Courts has a part-time vacancy for a Building Cleaning Worker I.

Summary: To perform independent cleaning, custodial or janitorial duties associated with the care, cleaning, and maintenance of one or multiple state facilities, buildings, or institutions; may include assignment to multiple units, areas, locations, or districts.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of eighth grade or its equivalent.

Experience: None required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for required formal education.

Recommended Work Traits:

Knowledge of the methods and practices of cleaning services in a large complex, health facility, or building.

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.

Knowledge of quality standards for health, environment and safety.

Ability to read and write and to prepare both written and oral reports.

Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).

Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.

Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.

Responsibilities:

Performs light to heavy physical custodial activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and whole body movement, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, or handling equipment and materials to perform cleaning duties, such as dusting, vacuuming, stripping/buffing/waxing floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls, and glass, and disinfecting.

Performs routine building and facilities maintenance duties such as changing lightbulbs, adjusting or replacing fixtures, and resetting machinery or environmental systems.

Removes snow, debris, or garbage from grounds/walkways; salts and sands when needed. Mows, cuts hedges and trims grass. Moves beds, furniture, equipment, partitions, materials, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.

Performs condition checks of cleaning tools/equipment and replaces or repairs as needed; observes operation of building or facility's mechanical, safety, or environmental systems and notifies supervisor or team lead of any issues or concerns.

Applies appropriate solvents, chemicals, and disinfectants; removes contaminated and non-contaminated waste from buildings/facilities; disposes of waste in a prescribed manner; adheres to health and safety requirements relevant to the work area or facility.

Stocks supplies and advises the team lead or supervisor when inventory is low or if supplies are needed.
