POSITION DESCRIPTION
Unit Service Executive
The position reports to: Field Director
POSITION CONCEPT
The Unit Service Executive (USE) is responsible for coaching and mentoring assigned Scouting units (Cub Scout Packs, Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, Exploring Posts & Sea Scout Ships) within their designated area. The USE works collaboratively with volunteers, parents, and community partners to ensure a high-quality and engaging Scouting experience for all youth members. This position requires a strong commitment to the principles and goals of the Scouting America New Hampshire Council, and the ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve them.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Unit Service and Support • Provide guidance, support, coaching and direction to unit leaders and volunteers, ensuring they have the necessary resources, training, and assistance to deliver a quality Scouting program. • Communicate regularly with assigned units and Key Volunteers through phone calls, email, e-newsletters, and personal visits, and set appointments to visit units as needed. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with charter organizations, community partners, and local schools to increase visibility and support for Scouting programs. • Ensure that all units within the assigned area are regularly visited, assessed, and provided with guidance for improvement. Keep the volunteer Commissioner Team informed of unit health issues and coordinate action to support the units. • Work with volunteers and units to complete and address deficiencies in registration paperwork and the annual renewal process.
Membership Growth and Retention • Collaborate with local volunteers and committees to develop and implement targeted membership recruitment strategies. • Work with all new units to develop a plan to develop and sustain their program, ensure leaders are trained in their position and serve as an on-going resource for volunteers. • Identify prospects for new programs, become familiar with demographics to implement sales and marketing skillsets. • Foster a culture of inclusion and diversity, ensuring that Scouting programs are accessible and welcoming to all youth and families. • Implement strategies to increase retention rates within assigned units.
Program Delivery and Quality • Support the planning, promotion, and execution of various Scouting events, activities, and training opportunities. • Work with unit leaders to ensure Scouting programs adhere to the Scouting America's policies, procedures, and advancement guidelines. • Collaborate with other Scouting America professionals and volunteers to share best practices and enhance the overall quality of Scouting programs.
Volunteer Development and Leadership • Identify, recruit, and engage volunteers for key leadership positions within assigned units. • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and recognition to volunteers to ensure their success and satisfaction in their roles. • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, recognizing their contributions and fostering a sense of camaraderie and commitment to the Scouting movement.
Financial and Resource Management • Assist units in developing and managing budgets, ensuring the proper stewardship of resources and adherence to financial policies and procedures. • Support fundraising efforts and other special events. • Collaborate with the Council Leadership & Key Volunteers on resource allocation and support for assigned units. • SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

WORK RELATIONS & SUPERVISION
Works as a team member with several staff members on various campaigns and projects. Must be an effective team player. Responsible for coordinating, communicating with, and supporting many volunteers.
VOLUNTEER RELATIONSHIPS
Commissioners, Unit leaders, Council volunteers, and parents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications • Four-year college degree is preferred, 21 years of age, American citizen (or declare intent), willingness to abide by the policies and standards of Scouting America. Successfully complete the interview process. • Demonstrated work skills in achieving objectives, directing resources, planning programs and events, and setting priorities. • Experience in a customer service/quality customer experience role preferred • Organizational skills and proven ability to work with minimal supervision. • Possesses excellent communication (verbal and written) skills and is personally appealing in one-on-one situations. • Reads, writes, and speaks English fluently. Multilingual candidates are desirable, but not required. • Must be proficient with telephone, email, internet research, learning online systems, and social media. • Demonstrated success in team environments and is an effective team player. • Ability to discipline himself/herself in terms of time, responsibilities, and organization. • Must be generally familiar with the Scouting organization and personally embrace the Vision and Mission of the Council and Scouting America.

SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS DESIRED • MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher • BeAScout.org, My.Scouting & ScoutBook • CRM, Lead Management & Project Management Tools • Knowledge of Help Desk procedures and ticketing/SLA software a plus • Video/audio conference software (Zoom/Conference Calling)
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Computer, telephone, cell phone, fax machine, visual aids, and must have valid driver’s license and/or be able to be insured to operate motor vehicles.

Goals are set annually and reviewed quarterly with your Staff Leader.
COMPENSATION
Annual Salary starting at $50,000 with potential bonus package for top performers (FLSA Exempt: Yes)
