Job Summary: Provide service to patrons and guidance to staff members that work within Wistar Dining Room.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assists with new admissions and diet orders as needed by manager, using AOD computer system to do resident nutritional assessments as needed by manager. Greet residents and review menus and diet orders with new admissions; Responsible for developing Wistar Brochures for new admissions and creating menu packets for new admissions.
  • Attends plan of care meetings for residents as needed by manager. Assists with charting resident dietary information when needed.
  • Assists manager with obtaining and charting monthly weights in AOD as needed.
  • Has knowledge to produce and train staff to produce modified diet items such as mechanical soft, finger food, honey thick liquids and nectar thick liquids.
  • Has knowledge to determine what menu items can be served to residents on therapeutic diets
  • Has ability to cook breakfast items to order and train staff to cook items to order
  • Responsible for learning resident likes and dislikes, including residents with difficulty communicating
  • Assures prompt and accurate service to all residents according to their individual needs by knowing resident names, knowledge of therapeutic diets, assistive eating devices, texture modifications, and allergies of each resident; help update electronic kardex with new diet orders.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of menu items served at each meal and items available for special orders; efficiently ordering and expediting from the line, with all plates appropriately garnished, water poured, and appropriate beverages served as ordered for each resident.
  • Assists with implementation of new cycle menu in health center twice a year.
  • Prints and posts “week @ glance” menus for all Health Center areas.
  • Coordinates and communicates with kitchen staff any issues that may arise as the result of special dietary requests, such as changes in diet orders, purees, last minute menu changes that may relate to health center menu selections.
  • Assists in coordinating any special events that occur in Health Center Dining program, including holiday and themed meals to ensure that these events are coordinated between health center operations, catering and kitchen staff on all levels.
  • Assumes responsibility for reviewing all meal count sheets for accuracy, including apartment trays, health care trays, guest and resident meals if applicable. Training and holding staff accountable for accuracy and performance.

All Kendal at Hanover staff will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
