Overview
Waterville Valley Resort is currently hiring for a hands-on Rental Manager to oversee the rental of equipment and supplies by creating and maintaining an orderly inventory, ensuring supply availability, and monitoring the condition of rented equipment. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who enjoys helping customers and working in a fast-paced environment. This position requires close attention to detail, a thorough understanding of how equipment is rentals, and effective management skills.
Responsibilities
Manages the daily operations of the rental shop by hiring, training and supervising staff; developing and implementing budget for rental office, working with Director of Snowsports and Accounting Manager; monitoring and participating in daily operations of rental shop; developing and implementing forms and procedures to guide guests efficiently through rental office, including reception area signs and instructions, tables for completion of forms, controls for lines during peak periods; setting work schedules and adjusting staffing to meet demand; conducting staff meetings; monitoring proper use by guests and staff of all forms used for rental of equipment; overseeing opening and closing of shop and compliance with all security and energy saving procedures; maintaining inventory records and assisting in planning for new equipment purchases; ordering necessary supplies and equipment.
Assures quality service to guest renting ski equipment by offering friendly and accurate information and efficient services, following resort guidelines in all interactions with guests; assuring quality service by all staff through leadership and training; monitoring the compliance with office procedures for computers, ticketing and services; maintaining up to date knowledge (and working to improve staff knowledge) of rental equipment available and resort information, especially all aspects of skiing, lift tickets, Snowsports group lessons and learn-to-ski/ride packages and rentals; especially times and duration of lessons and Snowsports products; including “as needed” communication via radio/telephone with Snowsports supervisors to accommodate the needs of the guests; the handling of all unusual guest problems and referring guests to other departments if appropriate; maintaining cleanliness and order of rental reception and desk areas.
Maximizes revenuesby monitoring and participating in staffing desk in rental office and greeting guests; assuring that staff follows all procedures for collection of payments and accounting; collecting payment for rental equipment; selling tickets and Snowsports group lessons and learn to ski/ride packages on computer based system; providing accurate and encouraging information to guests in selection of rental, ski/ride and lesson packages; explaining all special terms and conditions; controlling large bank of credit card, cash and charge receipts; following strict controls over cash management and accounting procedures; performing daily opening and closing tasks; reconciling and recording of sales and rentals.
Monitors and participates in the selection and fit of rental equipmentby supervising all rental services offered; offering accurate and friendly information about rental stock and availability; selecting and training staff to select appropriate sizes of boots and ski equipment for guests, with appropriate concern for safety, comfort and performance; assisting guests with fitting boots; adjusting and setting bindings to boots and height, weight, age, shoe size and skier type; following all safety check and testing procedures on bindings; instructing guests on proper use of equipment; refitting guests with different sizes and types of boots and equipment if appropriate.
Assures the proper maintenance and care of rental stockby overseeing performance of ski tuner/technicians; overseeing and assisting in the mounting, labeling and testing of new equipment; tuning skis, including resurfacing base, sharpening edges and waxing; repairing skis, boards, bindings, boots and poles; inspecting boots and equipment upon return and preparing work orders if needed for repair, tuning or maintenance; assuring that all equipment is neatly re-shelved upon return.
