Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

About the job

We are looking for a Unit Counselor to supervise campers and make sure they learn and have fun. What do Unit Counselors do? The most important out of all Unit Counselor duties is to ensure campers are safe at all times. You’ll be responsible for overseeing their activities and ensuring they don’t get lost or hurt.

Unit Counselors live and work directly with campers and strive to provide a safe and positive environment in which campers grow both personally and socially and explore the natural environment.

Applicants must have a strong desire to work with children in an outdoor setting and an interest in teaching and learning about the natural environment. Counselors must be at least 19 years old or have graduated High School on or before 2021, hold current First Aid and CPR certifications OR be willing to obtain certification before arriving at camp AND be willing to live full-time in a residential camp setting. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan outdoor activities for groups of campers
  • Ensure campers basic needs are met every day
  • Lead spontaneous activities during unstructured times.
  • Educate campers through games and explorations
  • Make sure all safety rules are followed
  • Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
  • Keep accurate incident logs

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like hiking, running, crouching or carrying children)

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: From $400.00 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability

COVID-19 considerations:
All staff are required to be vaccinated and boostered.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Experience with Children: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid and CPR Certifications (Preferred)
