Salemhaven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has an opportunity for an experienced and energetic Staff Development Coordinator (SDC) who shares the philosophy of making a difference in the lives of our residents. If that sounds like you, we would love to speak with you!
The SDC will collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing to provide in-service training and professional development for all staff that begins at new hire orientation and continues on throughout staff members’ employment duration. This is a full-time, forty hours per week role.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating and implementing ongoing in-service training for all staff including but not limited to infection control, fall prevention, and resident rights
- Develop monthly in-service education calendars
- Maintains a continuing education program to remain abreast of new trends in nursing care and procedures
- Assist in the evaluation process of nursing staff during the orientation period and on an ongoing basis
- Documenting and active with training of both direct/agency RN, LPN, and LNA staff
- Maintains in-service attendance records and reports on staff to ensure all staff meet in-service requirements
- Develops and maintains instructional manuals, reference materials, etc. pertinent to in-service training
- Develops and maintains a good working rapport with all facility departments to ensure nursing services and activities are adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents
- Monitors nursing care: ensuring residents are treated properly with kindness, dignity, respect, and in privacy
- Ensures nursing direct care staff understand resident responsibilities and rights, such as the right to refuse treatment and related directives
- Ensures proper documentation is maintained per facility and regulatory requirements
- Collaborates with Administrator, Director and Assistant Director of Nursing in survey processes, including but not limited to being present at all times surveyors are on-site and directing prompt responses to requests for information
- Fulfills responsibilities in compliance with federal, state, local laws, and regulations, and with facility philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduation from an accredited, approved school of nursing meeting state and federal requirements
- Current and in good standing RN or LPN New Hampshire License
- Minimum of three years RN or LPN experience in skilled nursing long-term care setting
- Infection Preventionist Certification
- IV Certified
- CPR certified
- Strong knowledge of nursing education
- Strong knowledge of policy, procedures, and regulations of skilled nursing center
- Excellent people skills, elevated level of energy and enthusiasm with good verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with PCC electronic medical records a plus
