This is a 40-hour per week, on-site position located in Ossipee, NH.
The County Attorney Investigator will be sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff for purposes of law enforcement certification. Primary duties include: • Serving as investigative liaison between the CCAO and Carroll County law enforcement. • Reviewing cases set for trial and assisting attorneys in preparing witnesses for testimony. • Tracking down witnesses on cases pending in the Superior Court. • Interviewing witnesses and preparing reports for the assigned attorney. • Serving subpoenas as necessary. • Conferring with the County Attorney to ensure appropriate resources are allocated and utilized for the benefit of felony case filings. • Assisting attorneys in preparing trainings and presentations for Carroll County law enforcement. • Attending court hearings, trials, and other hearings as required.
The successful candidate will be a certified police officer in good standing in the State of New Hampshire, and a minimum of five (5) years of law enforcement experience, with a minimum of two years of investigative work.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities include but are not limited to: • Understanding of New Hampshire law and procedure. • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of investigative techniques. • Ability to understand and effectively navigate social media accounts for investigative purposes. • Training or experience in a Victim Centered Approach Trauma and Informed Approach to criminal investigations. • Ability to effectively interview witnesses. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to exercise judgment in the analysis of facts or conditions regarding individual problems or transactions to determine what actions should be taken, within the limits of standard practice. • Ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to pending investigations. • Ability to work with request interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected issues. • Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress.
