ABCs Program Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Program Coordinator works with each classroom and staff member to help develop a quality early childhood education program, incorporating NH Child Care Licensing regulations in the day-to-day classroom operations.

Education:

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, or in a related field with a minimum of 9 credits in ECE, including 3 credits in Child Growth and Development. Business/office experience preferred but not required.
Certification, Registration and Licensure:
Infant and Child CPR including Automatic External Defibrillator training, and Basic First Aid to be obtained within 3 months of hire.
Must be knowledgeable with NH Licensing requirements for child care.
Must be able to pass a FBI criminal background check.

Experience:
Two years related experience in a leadership position (preferred but will train) and at least three years teaching experience within a licensed child care facility.

Responsibility Statements:
Assess program quality and needs through regular classroom visits/observation and in collaboration with Classroom Teams, Lead Teachers and Center Director.

Maintain a clean, safe, child- and adult-friendly center. Work with staff to ensure that the building and outdoor areas are attractive and inviting, with careful thought to displays, materials and the environment.
Spend a minimum of 50% of time/week in classrooms to observe, interact with staff and children, and model developmentally appropriate engagement.

Ensure that social skills are fostered and that children are encouraged to problem-solve, question, experiment and be creative.

Sit in on meetings with teachers and parents; summarize decisions made both verbally and in writing, and keep the Center Director informed of meeting outcomes.

Serves as a liaison between: staff and families; and staff and Center Director; and Hospital, ensuring open communication.

Staff

Conduct classroom meetings to share feedback from classroom observations regarding the classroom environment, materials, activities, and staff/child interactions, to coach and support the work of teaching staff.

Work with staff to assist children with developmental, behavioral or other concerns which may require targeted strategies. Ensure that strategies are developmentally appropriate, are used in positive ways, and are shared with families.

Ability to work with each age group.
Covers for staff absences/vacancies.
Cover breaks when applicable.
Families
Support classroom in communicating with families daily regarding the development and activities of the children in their care.

Monitor progress of children, serve as liaison between staff and parents if/when further outside intervention is indicated. Assist families with seeking appropriate services, encourage communication with teachers so they can implement strategies in the classroom.

With input from Classroom Staff, determine if/when additional parental involvement is necessary to discuss concerns, in the spirit of helping the child while maintaining consistency at home and in the classroom.

Office

Participate in the hiring, orientation and evaluation process for staff in collaboration with the Center Director.

Complete weekly staff schedule based on submissions from Staff, to ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained. Adjust staffing if/when unexpected absences/decreased workload necessitate.

Acts as Assistant Director and effectively runs center when director is not available.

Be knowledgeable with all aspects of billing, payments and software. Knowledge of all aspects of office management including but not limited to, Procare, state scholarship, payroll, Outlook, Microsoft office products and have the ability to learn new programs in a timely manner.

Responsible for other duties as assigned.
